Legend is about the infamous Kray twins that ruled the east end of London in the 1960’s. Ronald and Reginald Kray were born on 24 October 1933 in Hoxton, Middlesex. In the film Tom Hardy plays the two brothers and brings them to life with skill. In the movie we follow the story of how Ronald and Reginald Kray found their way to the top of the hierarchy in London’s underworld.
Tom Hardy has been a really in demand actor since he has starred in The Dark Knight Rises, Mad Max: Fury Road and Inception. Ratings have shown that these movies are absolutely phenomenal. In Legend he shows how good an actor he is by playing two brothers with two different personalities. Ronnie Kray was mentally unstable and a homosexual and while Reggie Kray was a smart businessman who really controlled the business they had created. It is great how Tom can go from playing an absolute lunatic to a normal well-rounded gangster. I believe this is one of best movies that Tom Hardy has been in. From the small details, like the effects that made Tom able to play both brothers, to other performances, like Emily Browning who played Reginald Kray wife Frances, all the elements complemented each other to make a really good movie.
There haven’t been many “good” movies where an actor plays the two main characters. This movie is based on a true story but however, it doesn't really dig into how violent they were and how untouchable they were in the underworld. It is a long film that goes for 2 hours and 11 minutes, and people may find it bit too long and boring. But it has a good story line and I believe Tom Hardy (38), has done a great job of making these characters come to life and showing how, back in the 1960’s, how much power you would could have if you were a gangster. It was an Outstanding Film
